Glen Avon Lodge is a comfortable guesthouse with large, nicely decorated rooms and beautiful bathrooms.
They are recognised locally for their food, so definitely eat there… it’s brilliant.
It’s about 15 minutes away from the centre of Cape Town in the very up-market areaof Constansia – where Bono and Michael Jackson own houses. It sounds quite a way away from the V&A front… but everyone has to drive to get places in Cape Town…so it’s not a problem. It’s also lovely to have options of other surrounding areas to eat out.
The Lodge is a family business with a few extra staff. They are extremely helpful and personable… they will have a laugh and a joke with you, but also respect your space.
Glen Avon is based closer to the less commercial beaches which is agood thing.
We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here recently following a safari in the Kruger and a wine-tour in Stellenbosch. Glan Avon Lodge was ideally situated for the places we wished to visit during the final days of our trip to South Africa. We were very close to the gardens of Kirstenbosch, Cape Point and a 25-minute drive to Capetown and Table Mountain. We would strongly recommend this Lodge with its beautiful gardens, large luxurious rooms and, best of all, the superb quality of the gourmet dinners. Helpful competent staff ensured a memorable few days before our return to England.

This is a Massive THANK YOU for making our holiday something to remember forever.
Melanie and I will have lasting memories of a wonderful country, wonderful people, brilliant accommodation and superb food and wine.
We would like to thank everyone who was involved with organising the trip, which was faultless. Although the journey to London Heathrow was tiring, but once we were booked in and then got on the plane we relaxed and started to enjoy the holiday of a lifetime.
The experiences that we enjoyed will remain with us for eternity. Even the cable car journey (by the way I really do hate heights but I had to do it, I felt I could not go all that way and not go up Table Mountain, now I can say been there got the t shirt) There is no way on earth I would have thought that I would be taking cheetahs for a walk, or playing with lion cubs. Even walking with elephants in such beautiful surroundings. And of course the scenery was out of this world.
The tour guides and staff we talked to were full of local information and more. The accommodation was amazing, this was the very first holiday I have ever been on that was not self catering, so this was a true holiday for me, no cooking, or cleaning, just being looked after by someone else. Did stress this to the husband that future holidays have a lot to live up to.
I sincerely hope that some time in the future I will revisit South Africa. but in the meantime we can reminisce by looking at our 2,000 plus photos and video footage.
I must finally say that I was close to tears at the airport as I really did not want to go home, even though I did miss my husband and son. Even now as I am writing this to you and thinking about the experiences we had, I can feel the tears wanting to flow at having left it all behind.
    Thank you once again

Just a wee postscript now that we have returned to Scotland
The service we received during our stay was outstanding, and the memory that will stay with us for a long time was the smiling faces from Henford and Livison on our arrival.- What a welcome! Since we have returned we have been telling all our friends and relatives what a great place Cape Town is for a holiday, and your hotel is definitely our top recommendation. I take this opportunity from all the King family to wish you success in the future and hope you business goes from strength to strength.

    Dear Glean Avon Lodge Crew,
What a nice time we had, with you and in Constantia. It was marvelous.
So, I like to confirm, as we discussed before, the option for the same room in the same period: room 14, from mid December this year till mid January 2013. Only 11 months to go!
An option, because many things can happen in between now and later this year. When it is becoming important for you to change the option into a booking, I trust we will hear that. But we have all intentions to enjoy the Capetown area once again.
Attached some pictures that you may like. I hope you can decipher the Dutch text….

    Best regards,
    Klaas Hielkema. & miep Maris
